Crown Elevation in Phoenix

Crown elevation lifts the canopy by removing the lowest limbs. Walks, drives, and sightlines open up, and more light hits the ground. The shade is still there. It just starts higher. We guarantee a professional job. We do not guarantee the tree.

What crown elevation is

Room under the tree, shade still overhead.

Shade tree with a raised canopy over a lawn in a Phoenix backyard

Elevation is the work when you are ducking to use your own walk, or the mower and the irrigation tech cannot get under the canopy. We remove the lowest limbs and leave the upper crown to do the shading. More light reaches the turf and the plants at the base, which is often what that part of the yard has been missing.

What elevation does

Clearance where you actually walk.

We raise the crown enough to use the space. We do not skin the trunk up into a pole.

Person walking a gravel path under a raised mesquite canopy
  • Walks and drives. People and cars get a clear line under the canopy instead of a tunnel of low limbs.

  • Light at the base. Turf, granite, and the plants around the trunk get sun they were not getting.

  • Easier maintenance. Mowing, rock work, and irrigation service can happen without fighting the lower branches.

  • The tree stays. You keep the shade and the structure. Elevation is a reason not to remove a tree that is otherwise fine.

Why Diamond Cut for crown elevation

The standard on this work.

How the visit actually runs, from the first look at the tree to the cleanup.

How an elevation runs

Low limbs off, upper crown left alone.

You should be able to walk the path without ducking when we are done.

  1. 01

    Walk the clearance

We check the walk, the drive, the sightlines, and how you use the space under the tree.

  2. 02

    Mark the lowest wood

Only the limbs that are in the way come off. The canopy above stays.

  3. 03

    Raise and haul

Cuts are made clean, and the limbs leave with us. The beds stay as we found them.

  4. 04

    Leave the shade

The yard is more open underneath. The tree is still the shade. Its future health is not a warranty.

Crown elevation FAQs

Questions before we raise a canopy.

If yours is not below, the answer is one phone call away.

  • Do you warranty this work?

No. There is no warranty or guarantee on the living tree, palm, or cactus. Storms, disease, soil, and the plant's history are outside anyone's control. What we guarantee is a professional job and work aimed at helping your yard thrive.
  • Will I lose the shade?

The shade moves up. Low limbs come off so you can walk and work underneath. The upper crown stays and keeps doing the shading.
  • How high do you take it?

High enough for the way you use the space: a walk, a drive, or a mower. We do not strip every limb off the trunk. A tree skinned into a pole is a weaker tree.
  • Can you do this over a sidewalk or driveway?

Yes. Clearance for people and cars is the main reason homeowners ask for elevation, including along the front walk and the drive.
