Stump Grinding in Phoenix

Stump grinding takes the stump and the immediate root flare below grade so you can lay rock, plant, or walk across the spot. Chips can stay as mulch or leave with us. We guarantee a professional job. A ground stump is not a warranty on the next thing you plant there.

What stump grinding is

The stump gone, the surface ready.

Stump grinder cutting the last ridge of a stump down into wood chips

A stump left in the yard is a trip, a sprinkler obstacle, and a place for pests to settle. Grinding chews it down below grade, including the flare of roots right at the trunk. We rake the chips. You decide whether they stay as mulch or go. The spot is then ready for decorative rock, turf, or a new planting.

What grinding includes

Below grade, and raked.

We grind the stump you can see and the root flare around it. We do not chase every root across the yard.

Raked patch of stump grindings set below the surrounding lawn
  • Below grade. The stump is ground down so it is not a trip and not in the way of rock or a mower.

  • Ready for what is next. The surface can take granite, turf, or a new plant once the chips are dealt with.

  • Chips, your call. Leave them as mulch or have us haul them. Either way they are raked out of the beds.

  • With a removal or alone. We grind stumps from a tree we just took down, and stumps that have been sitting there for years.

Why Diamond Cut for stump grinding

How grinding runs

Access, grind, rake.

The spot should be flat enough to walk when we leave.

  1. 01

    Check access

We look at gates, walls, and irrigation so the grinder can reach the stump without tearing up the yard.

  2. 02

    Grind the flare

The stump and the immediate root flare go below grade.

  3. 03

    Rake the chips

Chips are raked up. We haul them if that is what you want.

  4. 04

    Leave it plantable

The surface is ready for the next use. What you plant there later is a new job, not a warranty on the grind.

Stump grinding FAQs

Questions before we grind a stump.

If yours is not below, the answer is one phone call away.

  • Do you warranty this work?

No. There is no warranty or guarantee on the living tree, palm, or cactus. Storms, disease, soil, and the plant's history are outside anyone's control. What we guarantee is a professional job and work aimed at helping your yard thrive.
  • How deep do you grind?

Below grade, through the stump and the root flare at the trunk. Deep enough that the spot can take rock, turf, or a new planting. We do not excavate the whole root system.
  • Can you grind a stump from a tree you did not remove?

Yes. Old stumps are a common request on their own.
  • What happens to the wood chips?

We rake them. You can keep them as mulch or we can haul them. We will ask before we leave a pile.
